Neil McGuire's Idea
My current experience...
Why should my tax pounds go to fund a war I've always opposed, while the local Accident and Emergency department is closing down?
Wouldn't it be better if...
Each tax allocates a tax spend priority (percentages?) of where they would like to see their tax spent. The current 'people are/aren't prepared to pay for public services' debate is based (i presume) on either hearsay or sampled market research - this system would allow us to say definitively whether people are prepared to pay for their local public services, and if so then how much. This would also give a more direct empowerment for people to think about and engage with their public services.
