Re:designing the public sector

Neil McGuire's Idea

My current experience...

Why isn't all mail registered? Why do i need to pay a hefty premium if i want to be sure that something will arrive. When the majority of the working population are at work at the time when postmen try to deliver packages, why aren't packages delivered early morning evenings and weekends or a system of safeplaces introduced so stuff can be left without needing to drive/get a taxi to a depot in the middle of nowhere to collect it. The new sizing system is complex and seems to be designed round the needs of the Post Office rather than the needs of the customer, meaning you have to keep a range of stamps, rather than just one type.

Wouldn't it be better if...

Everyone had a PO number which moves with them when they move house avoiding misdirected mail and removing the need to change your address on everything every time you move etc.
