Re:designing the public sector

Julie Kenny's Idea

My current experience...

I needed to apply for passports for my three children. First step a trip to the post office to wait in a very long queue because the application forms are kept behind the counter. I asked for five form just in case of mistakes. After filling in the long complicated forms, I then had to give them to a friend to countersign. She made an error on the forms - so off again to the post office to wait in a very long queue and get even more forms. I filed them all in again - got my friend to counter sign. Another trip to the post office to hand them back in ...another long queue. Now waiting for them to be returned...fingers crossed they`ll be right this time.

Wouldn't it be better if...

Wouldn't it be better ...if there was an online application form? I could fill it in online - any mistakes and I could just correct them on the screen. The forms could be printed out - so no queuing at the post office. Less errors mean less paper too.
